About the Speakers Connection

The Speakers Connection connects you to talented authors and speakers affiliated with Orion magazine or the Orion Grassroots Network.

The individuals in this list can appear at your event to inspire and inform your group or write for your publication. Please view the individual author descriptions to determine their suitability and note if the person indicates a geographical range he or she prefers for engagements.

Contact information is provided where appropriate. Please be in touch with the individual or agency identified there directly using these details. It will be helpful to mention that you gained the person’s information via the Orion Grassroots Network and be sure to tell that person about your non-profit status. Authors often have a sliding scale for their appearances.

Remember to be patient and courteous when contacting authors - it may take some time for a reply. Indicate the date of the event or scope of the project and its deadline, event location, the purpose of the event, and what the person will be asked to do (keynote, moderate a panel, lead a discussion, etc. If you expect a person to do all of these things or more, indicate that as well). Ask what the person’s fee is, or offer what you have budgeted for a fee and ask if that’s agreeable. And it’s of course best to offer to cover all travel expenses, meals, and lodging.
