Austin Youth River Watch is an environmental after-school mentoring program founded in 1992 focused on service learning and scholastic achievement. We monitor water quality in Austin’s creeks and the Colorado River with a group of students from a different high school each weekday.  After monitoring, we go to the AYRW house to do homework, work in the garden, and have fun. Each year approximately 100 high school students from south and east Austin participate and receive a stipend for their work. Students who have participated longer help mentor newer students.
