Musketaquid Earth Day
Concord, MA
May 2, 2009
An annual tradition since 1990, Musketaquid Earth Day begins with the River Ceremony and launching of Earth Floats, sculptures made of natural materials, down the Concord River. The Earth Day Giant Puppet Parade is next, with dozens of huge puppets representing local wildlife, along with banners, costumes, performers, and more. Finally, the Arts and Environment Festival features displays from 20 or more local environmental organizations and groups, along with food, entertainment, and art projects for kids. Participants may create Earth Floats or puppets in workshops held in the months before the event.
