Creating a Sustainable Western North Carolina
Marshall, NC
June 13, 2009
In an effort to carry the momentum generated at this winter’s Headwaters Gathering, Wild South, in cooperation with The Headwaters Gathering, The Prama Institute, and Uncharted Territories Inc. is organizing this one-day follow-up workshop, centered on the creation of a sustainable WNC.
If you live and work in Western North Carolina and are a community leader, elected representative, environmental advocate, environmental writer, or employed within the sustainability sector (e.g. social justice, agriculture, green jobs, economic development) we would like you to join us for this one of a kind event.
It is the time to ramp up our efforts in order to have a greater impact. During tough economic times, the tendency is to retreat and isolate, but the Headwaters Gathering created an invitation to create efforts together that we can’t possibly achieve by ourselves. More than ever we must work to collaborate, form partnerships, and share assets and resources that will help us move more swiftly towards creating sustainable platforms that transcend our current ways of living and foster a more stable economy and environment. Business as usual will not get us there. Imagination and a spirit of trust and cooperation will.
At the event we will:
**have folks identify their interests and where they fit in to the spectrum of sustainability and how they may be impacted by climate change
**discuss what impacts we want to have in our communities and what common goals we share
** decide what collaborations we need to address climate change and to realize our goals
The event will be held at the Prama Institute and will include lunch and refreshments. The event will be “green” and we encourage folks to carpool.
A charge of $25/person will help to cover the cost of meals and facilities.
Space is limited so call (828) 649-9408 or register online.
