Art Exhibition & Live Falconry Demonstration
On Saturday, September 12 you are invited to Highstead for an Artists Discussion on the exhibition, Birds of Prey of the Eastern United States. Afterwards, Chris Davis, Master Falconer, will enlighten us on the natural history of raptors and their conservation and offer a live demonstration of these birds in action. Feel free to visit Highstead anytime between 10:30am and 3:00pm. The specific times of the days events are as follows:
10:30 12:00: Artists from the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators Greater New York Chapter will discuss their work on display at the Highstead Barn and share the experiences that inspired their work. The Art Exhibition, Birds of Prey of the Eastern United States, will be open for viewing at Highstead on weekdays from September 12 thru October 30, 2009 from 9:00am to 4:00 pm.
12:00 1:00: Light refreshments will be served and people are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy our self-guided interpretive trail.
1:00 3:00: Chris Davis will present information on birds of prey and discuss their role in the environment and peoples efforts to ensure their survival. He will then fascinate the audience with a live demonstration outside on the Highstead grounds. Each activity is always unpredictable and exciting, especially the incomparable thrill of a raptor returning to his glove.
